A symphony orchestra is made up of many instruments, each with their own voice, each playing an important part and relying on each other, all toward a collective sound.

Our sisterhood is also made up of many voices, each of us playing an important part, relying on each other towards a collective goal. A symphony needs players to succeed. Alpha Delta Kappa needs members to succeed. The symphony director recognizes the value of individual contributions while emphasizing teamwork. And so it is in Alpha Delta Kappa; leaders at each level of our organization provide opportunities for members to shine individually, while reinforcing the importance of collaboration.

As for the birds in my logo: like the instruments and the Alpha Delta Kappa members, each type of bird has a unique sound- from the high trills of the songbirds to the lower throaty sounds of the thrushes. All sing their little hearts out to communicate. The little hearts in my logo: a nod to WomenHeart, our biennium Altruistic project. I urge all chapters to include music, humor and joy into your meetings. They lift the spirits and heal the soul; let’s make every meeting a time of celebration.
